How does Generic Flonase work?
Generic Flonase contains the active ingredient Fluticasone propionate which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. The medication works by inhibiting the development of inflammatory and allergic reactions. Being a nasal spray the medication works locally and does not exert systemic action. This helps prevent many of the long-term side effects of steroids.
When Generic Flonase is prescribed?
The medication is indicated in prophylaxis and treatment of allergic rhinitis.
Before taking Generic Flonase
You should not take Generic Flonase if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Recent surgery on the nasal cavity
- Vaccination against chickenpox or the measles
- Tuberculosis
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
Generic Flonase should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Severe liver diseases
- Severe kidney diseases
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is not intended to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
How Generic Flonase is taken?
You should take Generic Flonase exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription.
The usual dose of Flonase is 1 to 2 sprays into each nostril once per day. Before using the spray for the first time, you must prime the spray pump. Shake the medicine well and spray 6 test sprays into the air and away from your face. You should shake the bottle of the medicine well just before each use.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Flonase dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: thinning skin, easy bruising, acne, increased growth of facial hair, menstrual problems, impotence, decreased libido.
Which Generic Flonase side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Generic Flonase. However, not everyone who takes Generic Flonase will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Generic Flonase tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Generic Flonase side effects:
- Change of taste and smell
- Perforation of the nasal septum
- Dryness and irritation of the nasopharynx
- Itching in the nasal cavity
- Nasal bleedings
- Vision problems
- Fever
- Hives
- Cough
- Sore throat

Which other medicines can interact with Generic Flonase?
- Certain antibiotics macrolide antibiotics (erythromycon)
- Certain antifungals ketoconazole, itraconazole, fluconazole
- Protease inhibitors like indinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir
Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.
How Generic Flonase should be stored?
You should store Flonase at room temperature between 4-30 degrees C away from light. Do not store in the bathroom.

You should not share this medicine with others. Do not take Generic Flonase on your own initiative without your doctors approval. Keep the drug as well as any other disposable material out of the reach of children.
