How does Generic Cipro work?
Generic Cipro contains the active ingredient ciprofloxacin which belongs to a group of medicines called fluroquinolones. Ciprofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic which acts bactericidally. Therapeutic effect is associated with inhibiting the DNA-gyrase in the bacteria cell and thus interferes with DNA (generic material) synthesis. This ultimately causes lysis of the microorganisms.

Before taking Generic Cipro
You should not take Generic Cipro if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
- Pseudo-membranous colitis
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age
Generic Cipro should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Atherosclerosis of the cerebral blood levels
- Disorders of the brain circulation
- Mental diseases
- Epilepsy
- Seizures
- Liver diseases
- Kidney disease
- Elderly patients
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication should not be taken in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How Generic Cipro is taken?
You should take ciprofloxacin exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. There is no standard dose for ciprofloxacin, because the dosage is determined in dependence of the severity of the disease and sensitivity of the microorganisms. Tablets should be taken whole with sufficient amount of water. Do not chew or crash the tablets. You should take the medication for the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Cipro dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: seizures, urination problems, weakness, or blue lips with pale skin.
Which Generic Cipro side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Generic Cipro. However, not everyone who takes Generic Cipro will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Generic Cipro tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Generic Cipro side effects:
- General: stomach pain, asthenia, migraine
- Cardiovascular system: bradycardia, syncope
- Digestive system: thirst, liver dysfunction, constipation, dry mouth, anorexia, flatulence
- Hematopoietic system: decreased prothrombin time
- CNS: depersonalization, depression, hypertonia, sleep problems, vertigo, tremor
- Dermatological reactions: increased photosensibilisation, itching, skin rash, itching, dry skin,
- Sense organs: diplopia, taste changes
- Urogenital system: kidney dysfunction, hematuria, dysmenorrhea, vaginitis
