How does generic Suprax work?
Generic Suprax contains the active ingredient Cefixime which belongs to a group of medicines called 3rd generation half-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotics. Cefixime acts bactericidally. Action mechanism is associated with inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell wall. The medication is resistant to the action; -lactamases which are produced by the majority of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
When generic Suprax is prescribed?
Cefixime is prescribed for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by sensitive to the medication microorganisms:
- Pharyngitis
- Tonsillitis
- Sinusitis
- Acute and chronic bronchitis
- Otitis media
- Uncomplicated infections of the urinary system
- Uncomplicated gonorrhea
Before taking; generic Suprax
You should not take generic Suprax if any of these conditions apply to you:
Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
Generic Suprax should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Elderly age
- Patients with chronic kidney failure
- Pseudomembranous colitis
- Children under 6 months of age
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How generic Suprax is taken?
You should take generic Suprax exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription.; There is no standard dose for Amoxicillin, because the dosage is determined in dependence of the severity of the disease and sensitivity of the microorganisms. Tablets should be taken whole with sufficient amount of water. Do not chew or crash the tablets.; You must finish the course of treatment till the end even if you became feeling better.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Suprax dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
Which generic Suprax side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some; side effects while may occur while taking generic Suprax. However, not everyone who takes generic Suprax will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking generic Suprax tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Suprax side effects:
- Digestive system: diarrhea, mild nausea, stomach pain, constipation, loss of appetite
- Allergic reactions: chest pain, shortness of breath
- Cardiovascular system: increased heart rates
- CNS: tingling under the skin, anxiety, drowsiness, headache, numbness or tingly feeling
- Urogenital; system. Vaginal discharges, vaginal itching
- Respiratory system: sore throat, cough, runny nose
- Dermatological reactions: redness, itching, irritation, hives
- Other: swelling of the hands or feet.;

Which other medicines can interact with generic Suprax?
- Calcium channel blockers

- Anticonvulsants

How generic Suprax should be stored?
Suprax tablets should be stored; at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
