How does generic Ovral work?

Generic Ovral is a contraception and it works on suppressing ovulation in women that makes it impossible to conceive. The drug causes changes in the cervical mucus and uterine lining that makes hard for sperm to enter the uterus and a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

When generic Ovral is prescribed?

Before taking Generic Ovral

You should not take Generic Ovral if any of these conditions apply to you:

• thromboembolic diseases
• stroke or blood clot, including history
• hormone-related cancer
• abnormal vaginal bleeding
• blood circulation disorders
• severe hypertension, severe migraines
• liver diseases
• a history of jaundice caused by oral contraception

Ethinylestradiol and norgestrel should be used with caution in the following conditions:

• hypertension, heart problems
• obesity and high cholesterol
• depression, including history
• diabetes
• gallbladder disease
• epilepsy, seizures
• irregular menstrual cycle (history)
• breast disorders (history)

Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Generic Ovral, by passing into the breast milk, may harm a nursing baby. It is highly advised to not use the drug during breastfeeding.

Generic Ovral may cause birth defects. It is forbidden to use the drug if you are pregnant or suspecting to be pregnant.

How generic Ovral is taken?

You should take ethinylestradiol and norgestrel exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

A missed pill increases the risk of pregnancy. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Contact your health care provider for further assistance.

What should I do if I overdose?

There is no any specific antidote, thus the treatment should be symptomatic. The main symptoms of overdose include vaginal bleeding, nausea, vomiting.

Which generic Ovral side effects are possible while the treatment?

As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking generic Ovral. However, not everyone who takes ethinylestradiol and norgestrel will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking ethinylestradiol and norgestrel tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Ovral side effects:

• weakness, headache, confusion, dizziness, fatigue
• vision, speech, balance disorders
• general ill feeling, nausea, sweating, pain in the chest or arm
• severe migraine attacks
• upset stomach, jaundice, low appetite, swelling
• depression symptoms (sleep disorders, mood swings)
• breast tenderness
• intolerance to contact lenses
• skin and / or hair disorders
• weight loss or gain
• vaginal discharge, itch
• menstrual cycle changes, low libido

This is not a complete list of generic Ovral side effects. When side effects do occur make sure to inform your health care provider.

Which other medicines can interact with Generic Ovral?

• vitamin C
• paracetamol
• glucocorticosteroids
• antibiotics
• barbiturates
• anticonvulsants
• immunosuppressive drugs

Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.

How generic Ovral should be stored?

Keep the drug out of reach of the children. Store in a dry place at room temperature.
