Over the past 20 years the number of patients with fungal infections (mycoses) has increased dramatically. This is mainly due to the launch of new medical technologies and a significant increase in the number of patients with immunodeficiencies. The spectrum of pathogens of fungal infections is growing rapidly: currently over 400 species of fungi that cause diseases in humans are known.

The most effective medications against a number of fungal infections are Terbinafine (Lamisil) and Fluconazole (Diflucan). Terbinafrine is a drug of choice in the treatment of onychomycosis, mycosis of skalp, skin, feet, and hands, scaly skin disease (chromophytosis). Fluconazole is most effective in treatment of different kinds of candidosis, especially caused by C.albicans, and as an adjuvant remedy in treatment of scaly skin disease.
