How does generic Cozaar work?
Generic Cozaar is a specific antagonists of angiotensin II receptors (type АТ1) for oral use. Angiotensin II selectively binds to AТ1- receptors located in the smooth muscles of the blood vessels of the suprarenal gland, kidney and heart and possesses some important biological functions including vasoconstriction and release of aldosterone. Angiotensin II stimulates the overgrowth of the smooth muscles cells. By blocking AG II receptors generic Cozaar reduces peripheral resistance, noradrenaline and aldosterone concentration in the blood, blood pressure.
When generic Cozaar is prescribed?
- Arterial hypertension
- Decreasing the risk of strokes and heart attacks in patients with hypertension and hypertrophy
- Diabetic nephropathy
Before taking generic Cozaar
You should not take generic Cozaar if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Arterial hypotension
- High potassium blood levels
- Dehydration
- Children under 18 years of age
Generic Cozaar should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Liver diseases
- Kidney diseases
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is not intended for used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Make sure to consult your health care provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How generic Cozaar is taken?
You should take generic Cozaar exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. Generic Cozaar can be used as monotherapy or in combination with diuretics or other hypertension drugs. The medication is usually taken once daily at the same time each day. Cozaar tablets can be taken with our without food. Tablets should be washed down with sufficient amount of water swallowed whole without chewing.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Cozaar dosage higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: tachycardia, extremely low blood pressure, chest pain.
Which generic Cozaar side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking generic Cozaar. However, not everyone who takes generic Cozaar will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking generic Cozaar tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Cozaar side effects:common cold, dizziness, nasal congestion, back pain, diarrhea, fatigue, anemia, extremely low blood pressure, high potassium blood levels, weight gain.

Which other medicines can interact with generic Cozaar?
- Diuretics (water pills)
- Potassium containing products

How generic Cozaar should be stored?
Cozaar tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
