How does generic Avapro work?
Generic Avapro is an antihypertensive medication which is specific antagonists of angiotensin II receptors type АТ1. By blocking Angiotensin II receptors, Irbesartan prevents vasoconstrictive effects of angiotenssin II and decreases the amount of aldosterone in the blood. Generic Avapro blocks all physiological effects associated with angiotensin II. Irbesartan lowers blood pressure without affecting heart rate.
When generic Avapro is prescribed?
- High blood pressure treatment
- Diabetic nephropathy in patients with hypertension and diabetes type 2 (in combination with other hypertensive remedies)
Before taking generic Avapro
You should not take generic Avapro if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the drug ingredients
- Hereditary galactose intolerance, lactose insufficiency
- Malabsorbtion syndrome
- Patients under 18 years of age
Generic Avapro should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Stenosis of aortic and mitral valves
- Dehydration
- Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
- Low sodium blood levels
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Treatment with water pills
- Stenosis of the kidney arteries
- Cerebrovascular diseases
- High potassium blood vessels
- Recent kidney transplantation
- Severe liver failure
- Chronic heart failure
How generic Avapro is taken?
You should take generic Avapro exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. Generic Avapro can be used as monotherapy or in combination with diuretics or other hypertension drugs. The medication is usually taken once daily at the same time each day. Avapro tablets can be taken with our without food. Tablets should be washed down with sufficient amount of water swallowed whole without chewing.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Avapro dosage higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: extremely low blood pressure, increased heart rate, bradycardia
Which generic Avapro side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking generic Avapro. However, not everyone who takes generic Avapro will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking generic Avapro tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Avapro side effects: heartburn, diarrhea, fatigue, dizziness. Other reported side effects included: skin rash, itching, edema of the skin, lips, tongue, Quincke's edema, wheezing, problems with breathing, problems with urine production.

Which other medicines can interact with generic Avapro?

How generic Avapro should be stored?
Avapro tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
