How does Sildenafil super active work?

Sildenafil super active is a new form of sildenafil citrate. The medication comes in the form of gelatin capsule making the medication more safe especially in patients with gastrointestinal ulcers. Sildenafil citrate belongs to a group of chemical compounds called PDE5 inhibiting. By inhibiting PDE5, Sildenafil increases the amount of cyclic PDE and increases blood flow to the penis. Sildenafil super active allows to achieve erection sufficient for appropriate sexual activity.

When Sildenafil is prescribed?

The medication is prescribed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (in men over 18 years of age)

Before taking Sildenafil

You should not take Sildenafil if any of these conditions apply to you:

  • hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any other component of the drug
  • women and children aged 18 and less

Sildenafil should be used with caution in the following conditions:

  • Anatomical deformity of the penis (angulation, cavernous fibrosis or Peyronie's disease)
  • Diseases which predispose to the development of priapism (sickle-cell anemia, multiple myeloma, leukemia, thrombocytemia)
  • Diseases accompanied by bleeding
  • Acute or chronic stomach ulcer
  • Hereditary vision disorders (retinitis pigmentosa)
  • Heart failure, unstable angina, myocardial infarction or stroke or life-threatening arrhythmia in the past 6 months, hypertension, hypotension

The medication is not intended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

How Sildenafil is taken?

You should take Sildenafil exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. The medication is taken orally swallowing with sufficient amount of water 30-60 minutes before sexual activity. Do not chew, crash or split the capsules.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

The medication is used only when is needed. Sildenafil is taken only 30-60 minutes before suspected sexual activity.

What should I do if I overdose?

The symptoms of overdose include: dizziness, hot flashes, severe headache, nasal congestion, priapism (prolonged erection)

Which Sildenafil side effects are possible while the treatment?

As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Sildenafil. However, not everyone who takes Sildenafil will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Sildenafil tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Sildenafil side effects:

  • Headaches
  • Facial flushing
  • Dyspepsia
  • Nasal congestion
  • Urinary tract infections (UTI)
  • Vision problems
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness
  • Unexplained rash

  • Alpha blockers

  • Grape fruit juice
  • Other phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors
  • Protease inhibitors
  • CYP 3A4 inhibitor medications

Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.

How Sildenafil should be stored?

Sildenafil gelatin capsules should be stored at room temperature (18-25 C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
