How does generic Maxalt work?
Maxalt contains the active ingredient called rizatriptan benzoate which belongs to a group of medicines called 5-HT agonists (triptans). By stimulating 5-HT receptors Maxalt helps to narrow blood vessels of the brain and thereby helps to relieve the symptoms of migraine. During a migraine some of the cerebral blood vessels are dilated.

You should not take Maxalt if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, angina, coronary heart disease, abnormal heart rhythm, hypertension
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Certain blood vessel conditions, such as Raynaud's phenomenon, peripheral vascular disease, ischemic bowel disease
- Severe liver diseases
- Severe kidney diseases
- Phenylketonuria
- Depression
Maxalt should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Mild or moderate liver dysfunction
- Mold or moderate kidney dysfunction
- Smoking
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- The medication is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
How Maxalt is taken?
You should take Maxalt exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. The medication is taken orally with sufficient amount of fluid swallowing whole. Do not chew or crash the tablets. Maxalt tablets should be taken as soon as possible once your migraine attacks begin. If the symptoms of migraine does not pass away you may use another one Maxalt dose. Do not taken than 2 doses of Maxalt at the same time.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
Maxalt is not meant to be taken on a daily basis. Take Maxalt only when you have a migraine.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Mobic dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Other heart problems
- Fainting
- Bradycardia
- Vomiting
- Incontinence
- Arrhythmia
Which Maxalt side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Maxalt. However, not everyone who takes Maxalt will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Maxalt tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Maxalt side effects:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Weakness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Fatigue
- Abnormal sensations, such as tingling, burning, or pricking (paresthesia)
- Chest pain, including chest tightness, chest pressure, or chest heaviness -
- Xerostomia
- Pain in the neck, jaw pain, or throat pain

Which other medicines can interact with Maxalt?
- Antidepressant
- Ergot preparations
- MAO inhibitors
- Other migraine medication (triptans)
Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.
How Maxalt should be stored?
Maxalt tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.

You should not share this medicine with others. Do not take Maxalt on your own initiative without your doctors approval. Keep the drug as well as any other disposable material out of the reach of children.
