How does Mobic work?
Generic Mobic contains the active ingredient Meloxicam which belongs to a group of medicines called NSAID's. Meloxicam exerts anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic action. Action mechanism is associated with inhibiting the activity of COX-2 which is responsible for biosynthesis of prostoglandins in the inflammatory area. Meloxicam does not act on COX-1 which participates in synthesis of beneficial prostoglandins which are essential in protection of stomach mucous lining.
When Mobic is prescribed?
Generic Mobic is prescribed for the treatment of the following conditions:
- Osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
Before taking Mobic
You should not take Mobic if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Aspirin bronchial asthma
- Aggravation of stomach and duodenal ulcers
- Gastrointestinal bleedings
- Severe liver disorders
- Severe kidney diseases
- Severe heart problems
- Children under 15 years of age
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
Mobic should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Liver disorders
- Kidney disorders
- Elderly age
- Adolescents
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How Mobic is taken?
You should take Mobic exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. Mobic tablets are taken orally with a full glass of water. Try to take the medicine with food at the same time each day. It is important to take the lowest effective dose for the least amount of time in order to treat your condition. In prolonged use or in high doses the medication may cause severe a lot of side effects.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Mobic dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting,, black or bloody stools, fainting, coma, nausea, fever, problems with urination.
Which Mobic side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Mobic. However, not everyone who takes Mobic will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Mobic tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Mobic side effects:
- Heartburn or indigestion (dyspepsia)
- Upper respiratory infections, including the common cold and flu
- Diarrhea
- Anemia
- Headache
- Insomnia
- Gas
- Nausea
- Urinary tract infections (UTI)
- Joint pain
- Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
- Swelling
- Anemia
Other possible side effects associated with Mobic may include: dizziness, skin rash, vomiting, back pain.

Which other medicines can interact with Mobic?
- Blood thinners

- Cancer treatment (methotrexate)

How Mobic should be stored?
Mobic tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
