How does generic Accutane work?

Accutane contains the active ingredient Isotretionin which is retinoid for systemic acne treatment. The exact action mechanism is not establishes, however significant improvement of clinical picture is related to inhibiting the activity of oil glands. Accutane inhibits the proliferation of sebocytes and acts on acne by restoring the process of cells differentiation. Skin fat (sebum) is a main substrate for the growth of Propionibacterium acnes. The decreased formation of sebum inhibits the bacterial colonization of oil ducts. Accutane also exerts anti-inflammatory action.

When generic Accutane is prescribed?

Before taking generic Accutane

You should not take Accutane if any of these conditions apply to you:

  • Liver failure
  • Hypervitaminosis A
  • Expressed hyperlipidemia and high triglycerides blood levels
  • Osteoporosis
  • Depression

Accutane should be used with caution in the following conditions:

  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Disorders of the lipid metabolism
  • Alcoholism

Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:

The medication is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The medication can cause severe birth effects if its used during pregnancy.

How Accutane is taken?

You should take Accutane exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. Always take Accutane with a full glass of water to prevent the capsule from melting in your esophagus (food pipe), causing irritation. Do not chew or suck on the capsule. Swallow it as quickly as possible. Take Accutane with food or milk. Take this medication for the entire length of time prescribed by your doctor. Your acne may seem to get worse at first, but should then begin to improve.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.

What should I do if I overdose?

Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Allegra dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth.

Which Accutane side effect are possible while the treatment?

As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Accutane. However, not everyone who takes Accutane will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Accutane tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following Accutane side effects:

  • Irritation of the esophagus
  • Arthritis
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Migraines headaches
  • Back pain, muscle pain, or joint pain
  • Voice changes
  • Hair loss
  • Sleep disorders
  • Menstrual changes
  • Weight loss

How Accutane should be stored?

Accutane tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
