How does generic Aciphex work?
Generic Aciphex contains the active ingredient Rabeprazole which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. The medication works by inhibiting Н+-К+-АТP- ase of the proton pump in the stomach and thus blocks the ultimate stage of hydrochloric production. This effect is dose dependent and leads to inhibiting both basal and stimulating secretion of hydrochloric acid. The medication does not act on central nervous and respiratory system.
When generic Aciphex is prescribed?
- Stomach and duodenal ulcer
- Reflux esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Stress induced ulcer
- Helicobacter pylori eradication in patients with stomach ulcer or chronic gastritis (in combination with other medicines)
- Prevention the relapses of stomach ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori
Before taking generic Aciphex
You should not take generic Aciphex if any of these conditions apply to you:
Hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole or any of the medication ingredients
Generic Aciphex should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Severe liver diseases
- Severe kidney diseases
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Rabebrazole is pregnancy category B meaning that medication is probably safe during pregnancy, however the full risk is unknown. Make sure to consult your health care provider if you are pregnant.
The medication should not be taken in breastfeeding mothers.
How generic Aciphex is taken?
You should take generic Aciphex exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. The dose of the medication depends on medical conditions you treat, concomitant diseases and other medicines which you may take. The medication can be taken alone or in combination with other drug. You can take tablets with or without food with a full glass of water. Do not chew or crash tablets. The treatment usually lasts 4-8 weeks. However, when Aciphex is used in Helicobacter pylori eradication the treatment should not exceed 7 days.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
There are no known any cases of overdose with Rabeprazole. In very high doses the medication may probably cause stomach disturbances such as dyspepsia, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea.
Which generic Aciphex side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking generic Aciphex. However, not everyone who takes generic Aciphex will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking generic Aciphex tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Aciphex side effects: headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, pain, sore throat, flatulance, common cold symptoms, infection, constipation. In very rare cases the medication can cause: low white blood cells, anemia, low platelets blood levels, pneumonia.

Which other medicines can interact with generic Aciphex?
- Antivirals

- Antimycotics (ketoconazole)
- Cardiac glycosides
- Iron containing products
- Immunosuppressors (cyclosporine)
Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.
How generic Aciphex should be stored?
Aciphex tablets should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
