How does generic Zelnorm work?
Generic Zelnorm contains the active ingredient Tegaserod maleate which works by stimulating serotonin receptors in the gastrointestinal tract. This helps to increase the movement of the stomach and intestine and thus prevent constipation. The medication also lowers the sensitivity of the nerves in the stomach leading to pain and bloating relief.
When generic Zelnorm is prescribed?
- Short-term treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation in women.
- Idiopathic constipation treatment in patients over 65 years of age
Before taking generic Zelnorm
You should not take generic Zelnorm if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Kidney disease including renal failure
- Liver disease including liver cirrhosis
- Abdominal adhesions
- Diarrhea
- Intestinal obstruction
- Diseases of the gallbladder including gallstones
- Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredients
- Men with IBS
Generic Zelnorm should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Severe liver diseases
- Severe kidney disease
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
How generic Zelnorm is taken?
You should take generic Zelnorm exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. Zelnorm tablets should be taken with sufficient amount of water swallowing whole. Do not crash or chew the tablets. The medication should be taken before meal. Try to take tablets at the same time each day.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Allegra dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include: severe diarrhea and severe headache.
