How does generic Protonix work?
Generic Protonix belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. The medication works by inhibiting the enzyme Н+-К+-АТP-ase in proton pump. The proton pump is responsible for the transport of Н+ ions into the stomach where hydrochloric acid is produced. Generic Protonix blocks the ultimate stage of hydrochloric acid secretion, lowers basal and stimulating secretion of hydrochloric acid independently on irritant origin. Pantoprazole acts only in acid media in рН < 3. In patients with Helicobacter pylori infection Pantoprazole increases the sensitivity of the microorganism to antibiotics.
When generic Protonix is prescribed?
- Stomach and duodenal ulcer
- Erosive gastritis
- Reflux esophagitis
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Gastrointestinal stress ulcers
- Helicobacter pylori eradication in combination with two antibiotics
Before taking generic Protonix
You should not take generic Protonix if any of these conditions apply to you:
Hypersensitivity to any of the medication ingredient
Generic Protonix should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Renal failure
- Liver diseases including liver cirrhosis
- B12 deficiency anemia
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Protonix has not been studied in pregnant women. The safety of the drug is pregnant women was not confirmed. The medication should not be taken in breastfeeding mothers.
How generic Protonix is taken?
You should take generic Protonix exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. The medication is usually taken once daily for a period of 8 weeks. You can take the drug with or without food. It is recommended to take generic Protonix 30 minutes before meal. The medication should be washed down with sufficient amount of water swallowing whole.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
There are no known any cases of overdose with Esomeprazole. In very high doses the medication may cause stomach disorders,
Which generic Protonix side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking generic Protonix. However, not everyone who takes generic Protonix will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking generic Protonix tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Protonix side effects: headache, dyspepsia, diarrhea, abdominal pain, high blood pressure, burping, insomnia, changes in liver enzyme. Other Protonix side effects include: back pain, anxiety, constipation, dizziness, neck pain, sore throat, gastroenteritis, flu syndrome.

Which other medicines can interact with generic Protonix?

How generic Protonix should be stored?
Protonix should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.
