How does generic Evista work?
Evista is a selective modulator of estrogen receptors. The medication acts as agonist to tissues which are not related to reproduction, and as antagonist on reproductive tissues. Therapeutic effect of the medication is related to binding of estrogen receptors and regulation the expression of genes. The medication disturbs the process of resorption of bone tissue and normalizes the balance of calcium in the organism via lowering the elimination of calcium with urine. Evista lowers the blood levels of low-density lipoproteins (bad cholesterol), does not affects the levels of high density lipoproteins and triglycerides, decreases the amount of fibrinogen in the blood plasma.
When Evista is prescribed?
Evista is indicated in prophylaxis of osteoporosis in women in post menopause period.
Before taking generic Evista
You should not take generic Evista if any of these conditions apply to you:
- Thromboembolia including thrombosis of the deep veins
- Embolia of the pulmonary artery
- Thrombosis of the retina veins
- Severe kidney disorders
- Uterine bleedings of unknown origin
- Cancer of the mammary gland
- Endomethrium cancer
- Hypersensitivity to raloxifene
Generic Evista should be used with caution in the following conditions:
- Cardiovascular diseases including stroke, minis-strokes, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, coronary heart disease.
- Severe liver diseases
Application during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
The medication is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How Evista is taken?
You should take generic Evista exactly as indicated by your physician. Do not exceed recommended dosages. Follow the directions of your prescription. The medication is take orally washing down with a glass of water. Do not chew or crash the tablets. It is recommended to take the medicine at the same time each with or without food.
What should I do if I miss a dose?
You should take the medication as soon as possible. If its already time to your next dose, you should skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses at the same time.
What should I do if I overdose?
Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken Allegra dosage much higher than recommended. The symptoms of overdose include:
- Leg cramps
- Dizziness
- Coordination problems
- High alkaline phosphate levels (a certain enzyme) in the blood.
- Vomiting
- Rash
- Diarrhea
- Shakiness (tremor)
- Flushing
Which side effect are possible while the treatment?
As with any drug, there are some side effects while may occur while taking Evista. However, not everyone who takes Evista will experience side effects. In fact, most patients taking Evista tolerate it well. During clinical trials there were reported the following generic Evista side effects:
- Hemopoietic system: thrombocytopenia, venous thromboembolia (including thrombosis of the deep veins), embolia of the pulmonary artery, thrombosis of the retina veins.
- Cardiovascular system: vasodilation (hot flashes)
- Other: systremma, peripheral edema, sinusitis,
- CNS: depression, anxiety, headache, hot flashes, joint pain, muscle spasms
- Urogenital system: uterine bleedings

Which other medicines can interact with Evista?
- Bile-acid sequestrant cholesterol medications
- Anticoagulants
- Estrogen containing medications
- Tranqualizers
Make sure to inform your health care provide about prescription and over-the-counter medication, herbal supplements, and other medical preparations you are currently taking. Do not begin a new medication without letting your doctor know.
How Evista should be stored?
Evista should be stored at room temperature (18-25°C). Protect from light. Do not store in the bathroom.

You should not share this medicine with others. Do not take Evista on your own initiative without your doctors approval. Keep the drug as well as any other disposable material out of the reach of children.
